Incredibly Professional..

Mirror pictures are in, right?? :) They are when you're in a hurry between school and work, and your handsome live-in photographer (a.k.a. fiance) isn't at home. So let's take a look at this outfit, shall we?
Yellow cardigan.. again.. yes. My favorite.
Top. is actually a skirt.. ironically last time I wore it, I took pictures in my bathroom mirror. Maybe it's just this article of clothing that calls for this. Who knows? :)
Jeans.. yep.
Moccasins.. LOVE.

How many of you out there have tried these stick on nail polish strips? This is my second try at them, and they came out MUCH better! That is my one tip of advice when using these.. buy one kind that you don't care as much for, and then the ones you really like.. because the first time you ever try to put them on, you won't be diggin' the results. haha.

Happy weekend! <3

Please Excuse my Wrinkles..

Linen pants. I love 'em, but hate their wrinkles. They were the perfect light-weight, yet still slightly warm item to wear today. The weather was kind of cool, but then warm when the sun would peek out occasionally. However, my school must have thought it was 90 degrees out, because the a/c was on full blast all day. I was really glad I decided to wear pants, then. :)
Plus, I was feeling good because I feel like this is a pretty grown-up look. Isn't it weird how a bright yellow cardigan can feel like a neutral, depending on the other colors it's paired with? Or is this just me? I feel like my look was very monotone today, but I loved it. I felt like it fit in perfectly with the feel of this Spring day. Also, in case you haven't noticed yet... I wear this cardigan.. a. lot.

I realized right before taking the pictures that I forgot to put on any accessories today. But oh well.. we got to hang out with these guys during the shoot:
:)

Thank you to Douglas for bringing me to this beautiful park, and taking my pictures for me. <3

A Quick Hello. :)

One outfit shot for this evening. It's already late.. this has been such a busy day! I have my school folder in my picture with me, as you can see from it's bright blue cover, and my yellow cardigan, I don't shy away from colors. Except for the rest of my outfit, I guess. Haha. I just realized that. Black tank, white lace top and black jeans.. Oh well. I'm wearing my favorite new floral print tennis shoes. <3

A lot of exciting things are about to be happening for me, though. That's why this day was so busy. I'm in the Dietetic Technician program at the local community college.. I've been really into nutrition for the last couple of years, and once I found out that it could be a career path, I was sold. This is  my passion. So, I'm in my second semester, so I'm really starting to get involved with the Student Dietetic Organization and everything.

My first cool thing is that our school is putting together a Nutrition Rocks! Day camp for elementary school age kids, we're doing classes and fun stuff to teach them basics about eating healthy and staying active. I'm co-teaching one of the classes.
Then! I have a volunteer opportunity with the county food bank here, they're working with a national program through Share Our Strength, called Cooking Matters. It's a cross between nutrition ed, and a cooking class. I shadowed a teacher tonight, and the curriculum is awesome. It's a free program to local adults, and some families, and the people that were there tonight were interested in changing their lives. Some had serious health issues, and they've realized that eating healthy is going to help them out. Oh, it is so exciting!

Anyway, that's a couple of things, other than school and work that are going to be taking up my time, but I'm still here! Promise! Have a good night, and a great weekend. :)

It's Sprriiiiingg!

I'm sure you're sick of talking and hearing about the first day of Spring, but let me tell you something.. it is also Taco Tuesday. And first day of Spring or not, Douglas and I will be having some tacos for dinner. Don't you doubt that. He is actually figuring out our location for them as I type this. Are we on the same page, or what?
It's actually been really nice, and then a huge storm came through last night leaving everything wet, and slightly cold. So I had to cover the legs back up a little bit with my lace tights. They're perfect when I'm not ready to expose my pasty skin to the world just yet. Also, I feel like I should have attempted to untangle my necklace a little bit, but......... oh well. :) So yeah. I'm getting myself back in the swing of things, so I hope to see you again tomorrow. Have a great evening.. Go get some Tacos!*

*This post not sponsored by Tacos, although it should be.. Because we eat a lot of Tacos.

School Style

Yes, most days.. this is the best I can come up with right now. I could probably fall asleep right this second. Actually, I know I could.. And I still have studying to do. But anyway. Not important! This was my school outfit for today. I was rather pleased, despite it being such a basic look. I just did the math.. this whole outfit, including shoes and accessories cost me 60 bucks. Literally everything was bought on sale except for the shoes. Those I decided to go ahead and buy full price because everytime I went to Target I would stare longingly at them.. I mean.. c'mon..

They are the perfect way to add some interest to a jeans and tee outfit. I love the delicate floral print on them.. mainly I just love floral of any kind. It's a bit unhealthy.. I think. Both the necklace and ring were impulse buys at Target earlier today.. I decided they would fit right in with this look, and they were both on sale. So that clinched that decision for me..
Cardigan: Sears (On Sale: $4!)/Top: Sears (On Sale: $4!)/Jeans: Old Navy (On Sale about 6 years ago for $6!)/Shoes: Mossimo from Target ($12)/Ring and Necklace: Target ($4, $10! Respectively)/Purse: Thrifted Dooney and Burke. (Marked at $40, on sale for $20!)
My purse is my most favorite buy in a long time. I've been  meaning to showcase it for awhile, when I still wrote over at Megan Loves, actually.. I just kept forgetting. I had been seeing these D&B purses around the blogosphere for awhile and was envying hard-core. I finally decided that the next time I went into my favorite thrift store and they had some available, that I would just buy one. I found this perfect hunter green one, marked for $40.. but everything in the store was half off that day! It was destiny, I'm pretty sure.

So, I was thinking earlier that it would be cool if I started carrying my camera with me to school and doing either weekly or bi-weekly "School Style" updates.. like a street style type thing. I see ssooo many girls at my school that have amazing fashion sense, so if I get up the nerve I'd like to start asking them to let me take their picture and posting them up here. But, one of the reasons why I've been absent for awhile is that my camera is so old, I'm getting ready to buy a new one, I just haven't been able to yet. But it's really annoying to use because it's so slow and doesn't take the greatest of pictures. So I think once I get a new camera I will not only be updating this more, but also doing some School Style segments. What do you think?? :)

I normally never do this..

I'm going to just say this.. Douglas isn't home, my tripod is falling to bits, and I'm in a hurry! So, here come the bathroom mirror pictures. hahah.
I'm really loving this outfit, though. I'm about to have a girls' night with my girl, Mary. I needed something cute and comfy for a night of drinks, food, and Beauty and the Beast 3d!! I'm sooo excited. haha.
Also, I ventured onto another pair of tights, the olive green ones!! It's easy to pair colored tights when the color is in the pattern of your clothes.. But that's what I did.

This was also my first time to actually properly blow dry my hair with a round brush and everything since my friend Kat did it at her salon after cutting it. I gotta say; I love the look of it, the curl at the end and the volume.. but I don't know how women spend that much time on their hair every day. ughhh. haha. I'm not a real girl, or something.

Getting Ahead of Myself..Or..The Day I Wore too Many Flowers..

Like everyone else around here, I have to begin this post by saying that I wish I lived in a place where the weather was exactly like it was today, everyday. It was PERFECT. Okay, I had to get the out of the way..

I bought a whole bunch of different colored tights from We Love Colors, these light blue ones being a pair, but I've been having a hard time figuring out how to wear them. I feel.. weird. I don't know why. Purple tights I can wear with anything any time, but all these other colors I bought are just perplexing me, unfortunately.
I do like how these look with this, but I know I kind of took the easy road out. They match the blue in my shirt almost perfectly. I don't know, I feel like I'm in Getting Dressed 101 at the moment. Forgive me.

I also will never wear this skirt unless it's still chilly enough out to wear tights (I could have gone with bare legs today, but I wasn't ready for it.. haha), the slit in the front of this skirt is slightly scandalous, so I feel better about having that extra layer between myself and the elements.. hah.

Floral print everywhere! I love it so much, I even have it on my glasses.
And, even though I did wear the cardigan all day, I had a hidden surprise of extra color:
Purple tank, blue pink and purple shirt, and then blue tights. I was like cotton candy or something today. I know it's only February, now.. but it seriously felt like at least April today.. that's why I was getting ahead of myself.. I wanted to wear all my warm weather colors, and a tank top today. Oh, Spring.. *sigh*.

Anyway.. Time to do homework! yay! Have a great night. :)

I know it's been quiet around here for a few days..

BUT! Fear not, I will return with more outfits and what not very soon.
For today I'd like to share something with you that is very close to my heart..
A local DFW band called The Forgeries. I'm close friends with these guys, and before moving to Texas I did some booking and promotions for other bands, so it's really been weighing on my heart that I should step up and try to help them out. I'm currently racking my brain for ideas and getting in contact with so many different venues, and just doing everything that I know how.
So.. here's something else.. just a little promotion through my measly little blog, here. :)

This video is a photo montage (including photos that were taken by yours truly.. haha) of the band over the last two years to the their song "Burning Memories" that's on their debut album Cupid's Handgun. Unfortunately, they are not on iTunes just yet,  but if you would like a CD we can help you out through PayPal and the good ol' US Postal Service. Just 9.99 plus 2 dollars for shipping. Leave a comment and let me know! :)

Jeans Times Two.

Yep. Goin' casual again. I wore this outfit yesterday for my first day back at school. :) I've always been the nerd that got excited about the first day of school. And my high school had block scheduling. So there were four classes one day, and a different four classes the next. It was like 2 first days every year! Yes, you may laugh now.

There's just nothing like the feeling of picking out your first day outfit.. and getting to see friends you hadn't over the last three months. Of course, in college I don't have friends that I have a ton of classes with. but I still like picking out my outfit. I decided to go casual, though.. keep it easy.

Tank Top:not sure?/T-Shirt:Canyon River Blues from Sear's (approx $4!)/Jeans:Empyre from Zumiez/Shoes:Mossimo from Target ($15!)/Necklace, Sunglasses and Owl Ring (can't really see that):Forever 21/Bracelets:Gift from my best friend/Clip-On Earrings:Claire's

I really feel like I need to work on detail shots, and my poses. I would like a better camera, but I know my pictures could already be much better if I just learned to 1.)slow down and not try to rush through it. and 2.)pay attention to the details, and figure out something better to do with my hands. hmmm.

Times when Douglas takes my pictures (like these.. thank you darling!) I feel the need to hurry, because he's doing me a favor and I don't want to waste a bunch of his time.. and when I use the tripod if I'm outside, I get nervous and embarrassed and want to hurry before anyone see me. Any tips?? :)

The Great Shopping Expedition of 2012.

Let me tell you a little story about this shirt I'm wearing (and 11 other items of clothing you will eventually see). I had to work a double last Saturday, and I had enough time to do something other than just eat, but didn't want to go sit at home. So I went to Grapevine Mills Mall, it's a local outlet mall. Nothing fancy, but I like it anyway.
So I wasn't really planning on shopping, just there to eat and waste some time.. well, right when I walked in I noticed Sear's had a sign up that said "All apparel $8 or less". I thought that was a pretty good deal, but wasn't really expecting much from the apparel section at Sear's. Maybe that's snobby-sounding, but I haven't been there in a long time.

I found a few cute things, and then noticed at the endcaps there was a sign that said "Stuff this bag with 12 items or less for $50" with a tote bag hanging underneath it. And I seriously said "whoa" out loud. Coolest sale ever. So, yes. I got 11 tops and a skirt for just FIFTY DOLLARS. I'm still in shock. I added up the original retail value... $290. Yes. This is real life. I know, I couldn't believe it either..
So, moral of the story.. shop in unexpected places. You never know what you might find. :)

Spring Dreaming...

So, here's the deal. I forgot my camera battery at home when we went on vacation. :( So, I don't have any pictures to share. But, that just means that I get to wear those outfits over again. haha.
We had a really great time, though. Douglas got to meet some of my family, and my best friends, and see where I grew up. I'm so happy we were able to take our short, but fun and relaxing vacation. :)
However, the weather was against us, and a cold front came through the night we got to Oklahoma City, it even snowed! But the next day we still walked around Bricktown for a bit, since he had never been, but we froze our tushes off.
So, in lieu of outfit photos today.. I've been dreaming of warmer weather (already, I know) and decided to look up some Spring trends to look forward to. Here are my 3 favorite, and some easier, less expensive ways to get in on the trend.

Favorite Spring Trend #1: Color Blocking
Glamour.com

And my suggestion:
I found this cute little skirt on Lulu's website for only $34! :) I love the pattern of the colors, and the fact that it has pockets! Plus, the colors are perfect for spring. <3

Favorite Spring Trend #2: Bold Prints
Glamour.com

And my suggestion:
I love this vintage dress I found on Smashion. It's super cute, and once again.. has perfect Spring colors.

Favorite Spring Trend #3: Metallic Basics

And my Suggestion:

Leggings are always a basic, especially when it's not quite warm enough for bare legs in the early Spring. Also, if you're not ready to jump into a bright, metallic gold skirt or shirt.. these are an easy, subtle way to join in on this trend. I found these at Urban Outfitters.. and.. they're on sale! :)

So, there you have it, ladies. It doesn't have to be scary, or expensive to follow one, or a few, trends this upcoming season. I'm so looking forward to Spring!! What about your favorite Spring trends? What are you most excited about??

Roadtrip!

The great state of Oklahoma.. This is where I'm originally from, and most of my family and friends all live there, still. So Douglas and I took a couple of days off this week to take a short trip up there so he can meet everyone. :) I'm so excited.. It's been awhile since I've seen a lot of my family and everything, so I'm gettin' all antsy to get there! I'll have my camera and laptop with me, and plan on taking some outfit photos, and general vacation shots.. I'm sure. I just don't know when I'll get the chance to actually post things up.

I did make it a goal to post at least 3 times a week, so I'm going to count this as post #1 for the week. haha. Oh I can't wait to get there, though.. I'm hoping these next two shifts (tonight and tomorrow at lunch) at work go by quickly, we're leaving as soon as we get done tomorrow afternoon. EXCITED! :)
