I know it's been quiet around here for a few days..

BUT! Fear not, I will return with more outfits and what not very soon.
For today I'd like to share something with you that is very close to my heart..
A local DFW band called The Forgeries. I'm close friends with these guys, and before moving to Texas I did some booking and promotions for other bands, so it's really been weighing on my heart that I should step up and try to help them out. I'm currently racking my brain for ideas and getting in contact with so many different venues, and just doing everything that I know how.
So.. here's something else.. just a little promotion through my measly little blog, here. :)

This video is a photo montage (including photos that were taken by yours truly.. haha) of the band over the last two years to the their song "Burning Memories" that's on their debut album Cupid's Handgun. Unfortunately, they are not on iTunes just yet,  but if you would like a CD we can help you out through PayPal and the good ol' US Postal Service. Just 9.99 plus 2 dollars for shipping. Leave a comment and let me know! :)

Jeans Times Two.

Yep. Goin' casual again. I wore this outfit yesterday for my first day back at school. :) I've always been the nerd that got excited about the first day of school. And my high school had block scheduling. So there were four classes one day, and a different four classes the next. It was like 2 first days every year! Yes, you may laugh now.

There's just nothing like the feeling of picking out your first day outfit.. and getting to see friends you hadn't over the last three months. Of course, in college I don't have friends that I have a ton of classes with. but I still like picking out my outfit. I decided to go casual, though.. keep it easy.

Tank Top:not sure?/T-Shirt:Canyon River Blues from Sear's (approx $4!)/Jeans:Empyre from Zumiez/Shoes:Mossimo from Target ($15!)/Necklace, Sunglasses and Owl Ring (can't really see that):Forever 21/Bracelets:Gift from my best friend/Clip-On Earrings:Claire's

I really feel like I need to work on detail shots, and my poses. I would like a better camera, but I know my pictures could already be much better if I just learned to 1.)slow down and not try to rush through it. and 2.)pay attention to the details, and figure out something better to do with my hands. hmmm.

Times when Douglas takes my pictures (like these.. thank you darling!) I feel the need to hurry, because he's doing me a favor and I don't want to waste a bunch of his time.. and when I use the tripod if I'm outside, I get nervous and embarrassed and want to hurry before anyone see me. Any tips?? :)

The Great Shopping Expedition of 2012.

Let me tell you a little story about this shirt I'm wearing (and 11 other items of clothing you will eventually see). I had to work a double last Saturday, and I had enough time to do something other than just eat, but didn't want to go sit at home. So I went to Grapevine Mills Mall, it's a local outlet mall. Nothing fancy, but I like it anyway.
So I wasn't really planning on shopping, just there to eat and waste some time.. well, right when I walked in I noticed Sear's had a sign up that said "All apparel $8 or less". I thought that was a pretty good deal, but wasn't really expecting much from the apparel section at Sear's. Maybe that's snobby-sounding, but I haven't been there in a long time.

I found a few cute things, and then noticed at the endcaps there was a sign that said "Stuff this bag with 12 items or less for $50" with a tote bag hanging underneath it. And I seriously said "whoa" out loud. Coolest sale ever. So, yes. I got 11 tops and a skirt for just FIFTY DOLLARS. I'm still in shock. I added up the original retail value... $290. Yes. This is real life. I know, I couldn't believe it either..
So, moral of the story.. shop in unexpected places. You never know what you might find. :)

3. I quit drinking coffee because I have panic attacks, so I survive on the B Vitamins in Emergen-C to give me energy. :)

Spring Dreaming...

So, here's the deal. I forgot my camera battery at home when we went on vacation. :( So, I don't have any pictures to share. But, that just means that I get to wear those outfits over again. haha.
We had a really great time, though. Douglas got to meet some of my family, and my best friends, and see where I grew up. I'm so happy we were able to take our short, but fun and relaxing vacation. :)
However, the weather was against us, and a cold front came through the night we got to Oklahoma City, it even snowed! But the next day we still walked around Bricktown for a bit, since he had never been, but we froze our tushes off.
So, in lieu of outfit photos today.. I've been dreaming of warmer weather (already, I know) and decided to look up some Spring trends to look forward to. Here are my 3 favorite, and some easier, less expensive ways to get in on the trend.

Favorite Spring Trend #1: Color Blocking
Glamour.com

And my suggestion:
I found this cute little skirt on Lulu's website for only $34! :) I love the pattern of the colors, and the fact that it has pockets! Plus, the colors are perfect for spring. <3

Favorite Spring Trend #2: Bold Prints
Glamour.com

And my suggestion:
I love this vintage dress I found on Smashion. It's super cute, and once again.. has perfect Spring colors.

Favorite Spring Trend #3: Metallic Basics

And my Suggestion:

Leggings are always a basic, especially when it's not quite warm enough for bare legs in the early Spring. Also, if you're not ready to jump into a bright, metallic gold skirt or shirt.. these are an easy, subtle way to join in on this trend. I found these at Urban Outfitters.. and.. they're on sale! :)

So, there you have it, ladies. It doesn't have to be scary, or expensive to follow one, or a few, trends this upcoming season. I'm so looking forward to Spring!! What about your favorite Spring trends? What are you most excited about??

Roadtrip!

The great state of Oklahoma.. This is where I'm originally from, and most of my family and friends all live there, still. So Douglas and I took a couple of days off this week to take a short trip up there so he can meet everyone. :) I'm so excited.. It's been awhile since I've seen a lot of my family and everything, so I'm gettin' all antsy to get there! I'll have my camera and laptop with me, and plan on taking some outfit photos, and general vacation shots.. I'm sure. I just don't know when I'll get the chance to actually post things up.

I did make it a goal to post at least 3 times a week, so I'm going to count this as post #1 for the week. haha. Oh I can't wait to get there, though.. I'm hoping these next two shifts (tonight and tomorrow at lunch) at work go by quickly, we're leaving as soon as we get done tomorrow afternoon. EXCITED! :)

Out of Frame..

This is what happens when I attempt to take my own pictures.. my head gets cut off in almost every one of them. hah. Oh well. I also really need a new tripod. Mine is falling to pieces, and holds my camera all crooked, so when I rotate them, that's when  my head goes out of the frame.. ahh Blogger Problems.. :)

I thought yesterday's outfit was my favorite, but I think today's is.. haha. I'm still not dressed up for any good reason.. I do need to make a trip to Kohl's in a minute, but other than that all I'm doing tonight is more housework and making dinner. What an exciting life I lead. :)

 Top: Banana Republic (thrifted- $1!)/Shorts: Forever 21/Tights: Hanes from Target/Shoes: Mossimo from Target ($20)/Necklace: Gift/Bracelet: old?/Earrings: Claire's

I do want to say thank you to my first two followers! How awesome. :) And all the sweet comments I've received already. I really hope I get to know some of you awesome ladies. <3

Stripes & Plaid

Not gonna lie.. before I knew about and started getting in to the world of style/fashion blogging.. I would have never thought to put these two pieces together.. and I really loved clothes! I still don't think you're "technically" supposed to mix stripes and plaid, but I am in love with this look. To me, this is just a natural pairing! I think the neutral colors of the overall outfit help it to not look too busy. What do you think?

Plus, this is my favorite shirt, and favorite skirt. So I think that helped me to make this decision. I had seen this skirt on Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky a few times, and fell in love, so I sought out one of my own. I'm so glad I did. <3

Today was my second day off in a row from work! Ahh joy. I needed all the extra time to get our apartment back into shape from the holidays, though. Whew. I got most of my checklist done, but I'm still not finished! I needed to take a break and get out there before the sun went down.
I had Douglas help me take pictures today (thanks honey!), and they turned out much better. I either need to be shorter, or find a taller tripod, because the angles just never look quit right when I don't have someone taking pictures at eye level with me. Plus, it wasn't quite as windy. :)

Country Feel...

Yeah, I chose a super casual look for my first real post. I'm gonna blame this whole outfit on all the country I've been listening to lately, but I don't know what to blame that on. So who knows.
I did decide to wait until the windiest day of winter to take these pictures, though.. So that's always fun. haha. Also, I'm a little bit out of practice. I need to enlist Douglas' help on pictures, I think. I chose to go to a public park and then fret every time someone walked past me. I know, I'm a weirdo.

So, I decided to use the new blog as an excuse to re-wear old outfits. That's what this is all about, really.. I don't want to spend money on new clothes, so I just start a new blog. hah! Not really, actually. I should have some new tops arriving in the mail tomorrow! But for real, if you are a friend of mine that has been reading my old blog for awhile, I apologize now for the inevitable repeats. Luckily, this is not one of them. :)
It's just a really simple look for grocery shopping. I've been wearing too much black lately, for some reason. I was hoping this crazy old Roper jacket would add some interest. Do you think it worked? Ahh. who knows.

Jacket: Cowboy Turtles by Roper (thrifted)/Top: Forever 21/Jeans: Empyre from Zumiez/Belt: Forever 21/Shoes: Charles Albert from Ross ($8!)/Necklace: Forever 21/Earrings: Claire's

Confession: I do  not have pierced ears. I know there aren't many girls out there who don't.. but for those of you who, like me, are upset at the fact that you can't use a nice pair of earrings to spruce up an outfit.. Fear no more! Claire's sells clip ons! And they're cute! And affordable! They're always buy 2 get 1 free. I got 6 pairs for 40 bucks! So, there ya go. A nice tip to leave you with.

Please excuse me while I'm putting myself together..

Here I am! Happy 2012!

Well, Hello there, new blog!
I figured, what a better time to start a new one, than on New Year's Day?! I had a blog before, at Megan Loves, if you want to go check that out.. I'm going to leave it up for awhile longer in case anyone wants to go get a feel for what this one might be similar to. Although, I have decided that one of my goals for 2012 is to be more consistent. In everything. To keep a schedule, and do things when I say I'm going to do them. So that carries over into my blogging life, as well. And I was just feeling not motivated about Megan Loves anymore. It was just too.. generic. and boring. So here I am to start anew.

I'm sure the only people who will be reading this for awhile will  be friends of mine that follow my links from Facebook. haha. But just in case, I'm going to use this first post to introduce myself a little bit.. and what better way than with my NYE pics from last night.. haha
So, here I am with my fiance, Douglas. :) Our friends hosted a Masquerade Party last night. it was amazing! And I don't normally dress so fancy, but it was a special occasion, so I got a new dress. :)

Here's my first unofficial outfit photo.. hah. I couldn't find my tripod to take any earlier in the day, so this will work for now. That cute little girl in the red dress is my friend Emily, we work together, as do most of my friends... :) Since I didn't really take outfit photos of this.. I'm going to leave you with some random, fun party pics.

Kat and Craig.. that's what happens with you hand your camera to someone and turn around for a minute.. hahah.
Douglas, Me (Megan), Leslie, Matt, Robin and half of Darren's face. :)

Douglas (he's in most of these photos.. I don't know why... ;-) ) and Chitty
The beautiful Courtnee, and her husband Brad
 Here's Douglas.. accosting Royce.

Danciiiing.. until about 5 a.m. haha
YAY! Happy New Year!
